What is the Modern Frontline User?
Not everyone in your organisation sits behind a fixed computer all day. Frontline and production staff mainly work from their phone or a shared device and do not need a full Office installation on a laptop. The Modern Frontline User is built for exactly that: a lightweight, managed workplace based on a Microsoft 365 F3 licence.
The user works with the Microsoft 365 apps in the browser and with the mobile Office and Outlook apps, with access to company data in SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive. That way everyone stays connected, even without their own laptop.
In terms of security the Frontline User makes no compromises. MFA, Conditional Access, blocking legacy authentication and Secure Score Monitoring are included as standard, along with Microsoft 365 backup. So your frontline accounts are demonstrably protected too.

Microsoft 365 apps in the browser
Word, Excel, Outlook and more via the browser, without installing on a laptop.
Mobile Office and Outlook apps
The Office apps on screens up to 10.9 inch and the Outlook app on the phone.

Who is the Modern Frontline User for?
For staff without a fixed workplace or their own laptop, such as production, retail and field staff. They mainly work via their phone or a shared device.
What is the difference with a Modern User?
A Modern User has the full, desktop-installed Office apps and a larger mailbox. The Frontline User works with the web and mobile apps and a 2 GB mailbox, at a lower rate. The security is equivalent.
Is Microsoft 365 backup included?
Yes. Just like our other workplaces, the mail and files of the Frontline User are backed up, so you lose nothing in an incident.
